Vivianne Hazenveld

Vivianne’s work features the saturated colours of both the sea and the land. While Vivianne’s prior art studies gave her a grounding in the more conventional ways of creating art, her work has been constantly evolving. Alongside conventional painting techniques in acrylic and oil, Vivianne is always keen to experiment with varying materials such as wax and shellac, and to employ a variety of unusual techniques. Even bones, feathers and pebbles have found their way into some of her mixed media works in which the line between 2D and 3D art becomes blurred. Created intuitively, with minimal preconceptions about what a finished work “should” look like, Vivianne combines the unusual and embraces any ‘accidents’ that occur along the way. Due to this constant process, Viviannes work is ever-changing, while still having common elements throughout. Her works range from smooth rounded forms to earthly textures which, at times, literally protrude from the surface of the image. Most will feature a lyrical sense of line, sensual forms, luscious textures and sumptuous colours .

Teaching adults art in Seaforth, she is passionate about coaxing out the inner artist within each of her students, guiding them to create with confidence, and enjoying the process along the way! Vivianne co-directs The Art Sanctuary, an artist run space set in a beautiful old church near Manly. She is surrounded by art and art materials in her work at an arts supplies shop, framing shop and gallery.

Exhibitions include: MLC gallery in the city, the Manly Art Gallery and Museum, Art Focus Gallery, Lavender Bay Gallery, The Painters Gallery, Glen Street Gallery, Casula Powerhouse and the Griffith and Orange Regional Galleries.
